Abstract Socrates is credited with popularising a method of teaching in which the teacher leads students to new understanding by asking questions. If, for example, the student affirms the truth of A, and if B leads logically from A, then one might say the student learns B by default, on his own, and one can expect this self‐derived revelation to make a forceful impression on the learner.
